JACQUELINE RYAN, A LAPIS LAZULI AND GOLD COLOURED NECKLACE CIRCA 1998The organic interlocking spoon shaped links with lapis lazuli accents, stamped 750 with Italian 384 PD control mark Size/dimensions: 78cm longGross weight: 101 grams Provenance: from the collection of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild The mark 384 PD refers to the workshop that Jacqueline shared with Giovanni Corvaja in Padova. Neither of them were required to have an additional, individual maker's identification mark besides that of the premises because they were officially a working partnership in Padova, and then in the Perugia area until 2005 (Corvaja & Ryan Snc). When Giovanni moved to a larger premises not far from the original workshop, Jacqueline purchased Giovanni's half of the premises and it became an individual business. They used to sign their own individual works by hand so technically both their works made before 2001 carried the 384 PD Padova identification mark, thereafter 152PG until 2005 when the partnership was dissolved. Jacqueline Ryan retained the 152PG identification which she still uses to this day. 'Most of my pieces are preceded by studies derived from living organisms, marine plants, flowers, or seeds and other found objects with the occasional aid of macrophotography that capture some of the finer-scale qualities more difficult to perceive with the naked eye. Repetition, naturally occurring in nature, is a recurrent theme that runs through much of my work as well as movement in which the composite shapes and forms from which my work is constructed move and sway with the body and sometimes jingle and rattle - quietly giving the work a pleasant tactile dimension and interacting with the wearer so that the piece may be animated and alive. I feel that my work has completed its cycle when it has found its wearer.'品相: Believed to have been originally sold at the Sotheby's 20th Century Decorative Arts Exhibition in 2003. General surface wear commensurate with use
