此硯歙石製成，作風字形，硯堂眉紋隱現，恰如微波蕩漾，眉紋之中另有金星閃爍，亦如夜晚蒼穹之繁星，美不勝收。硯配松花石雕荷塘蛙趣子母口蓋盒，盒蓋依松花石天然紋理巧色雕刻，主體作荷葉形，數多蓮葉層疊，其上一朵蓮花滿開，蓮梗縱貫蓋面，荷葉上蹲坐一只青蛙，似怒目前視，可愛至極。 此硯整體雕刻極爲精細，硯體與硯盒可調嚴絲合縫，加之硯蓋之精細雕刻，當爲清乾隆宮廷所制之物。同類器物可參考台北故宮博物院舊藏 清乾隆松花石荷塘蛙鳴圖硯，二硯可調如出一轍。 參閱：《品埒端歙 松花石硯特展》國立故宮博物院編輯委員會編輯，國立故宮博物院出版，中華民國八十二年九月，第八十一號 清乾隆 松花石荷塘蛙鳴圖硯。
