Circa 900-700 BC, Neo-Elamite A fine bronze basin or phiale, a special libation bowl used for holding wine, with a rounded body, the corseted shoulder flares outward to form the rim, and the slanted lip enables the easy sipping of the contents. The exterior of the bowl is polished; the inside with a rosette finelly modelled, just below the rim an inscription in cuneiform. Size: L:53mm / W:152mm; 210g Provenance: Private London collection ( B.A); formerly acquired in the 1970s from John Lees collection.
