PROVENANCE: From the collections of Dan Peters (1946 - Present), of South Atlanta-Georgia, private collector.A retired engineer and Christian School Administrator, has had the heart of a missionary to serve in many foreign countries aiding in building orphanages and hospitals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and other Asian countries. His present work is in Lima Peru. There he is using his talents to help develop safe drinking water and establish sanitary conditions inside the hospital. He is the parent to 16 children most of which are adopted from various countries. His worldwide travels have allowed him to enjoy the ability to collect treasures, some of his collection will be sold at auction to help raise funds for his ongoing work in Peru.Measurements: Height: 17 1/8" Diameter: 13 1/2" SUPERB, EXTRAORDINARY MAGNIFICIENT 15th C. Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Emperor Xuande Reign Period (27 June 1425-31 January 1435) blue and white dragon Imperial porcelain reward vase. Sturdy vase in a round body, gently tapered, shaped in a round body with rounded shoulders converging into a tall straight neck, smooth narrowed mouth, with a slightly concaved foot base. The exterior decorated with blue over white continuous scene hand painting of three-claws snarling dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-Shui waves. The upper rim banded with scrolling floral patterned ribbon. The under-base shows unglazed burnt pale-creme ground in the firing Waves are known to serve as the dragons abode, with the dragon representing the Emperor and imperial household. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor, represent longevity, wealth, abundance and fecundity. There is not any overlap of the outlines, its well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be highly valued Chinese Guanyao porcelain Imperial wares, with the finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. Bears a reign mark under the upper rim, a six underglazed blue script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Xuande Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty (27 June 1425-31 January 1435).
