觿为黄玉质，种沁一流，温润细腻。器呈片状。器身收窄呈略弯形，末端收尖，顶部镂雕龙纹，双面工，下以弦纹立边，中间碾琢谷纹，方向随意，饱满圆润。整器纹饰精美，器形美观。玉觿一端尖锐，而另一端多琢成动物形象，有龙首、虎首、兽首、凤首或鸟首等形状。觿在商代是一种佩玉，最早的玉觿出土于新石器时代良渚文化，商以后直到汉代，成为常见的玉佩。《诗经》有“芄兰之支，童子佩觿”的记载。
