作者简介：周棠（1806-1876），字召伯，一字少白，号兰西、蜕道人。浙江山阴（今绍兴）人。官光禄寺署正。写意花卉酷似徐渭、陈淳。山水则师石溪、石涛。晚年专画石，具各种皴法，轮困磊柯，洞窍玲珑。张之万称之为清代画石第一。朝鲜使者每乞其画归。能诗，兼工篆、隶，善刻印章。咸丰八年（1858）着《竹石画范》。
