An early Victorian Scottish ebonized mantel clock with eight day twin fusee movement striking hours on a bell, the square silvered dial with black Roman hour numerals, engraved foliate scrolls and inscribed 'J & W Mitchell Glasgow', the backplate similarly signed, the ebonized case of rectangular form with bevelled glass panels to top and sides, on a cushion shaped base and rectangular plinth, height 32.2cm, with pendulum, winding key and case key. Note: John & William Mitchell are recorded Glasgow clockmakers working from Buchanan Street circa 1835 and Argyle Street circa 1820-60.
