A late 18th century oak longcase clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the 10-inch square brass dial with single hand, the centre engraved with a landscape framing a silvered subsidiary date dial, the silvered chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'Js Stratton Hampton', the hood with moulded pediment, glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with rectangular door above a plain base, height 203cm, with pendulum and weight (some faults). Note: James Stratton was a recorded Gloucestershire clockmaker working in Minchinhampton from 1765 to 1781.
