Y A REGENCY ROSEWOOD LIBRARY ARMCHAIRATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS, CIRCA 1820The angled back legs of reeded form with distinctive slanted cappings to the back leg casters101cm high, 76cm wide, 86cm deepFor a library armchair of closely related form, see Christie's, London, 18th November 2010, Lot 173 (£15,000).There are some marks, scratches, chips, splits, abrasions consistent with age and use, some to the extremities and edges.Some repairs including dowel repairs beside cracks to the base of the arm facings along the seat rail and a replacement section to the scroll top of one arm facing.Some areas of the rosewood dry and untouched, with some water damage, some rubbing to some areas of darker staining with some sun fading. There is evidence of old worm visible to the seat rails.The upholstery with some fading and stains, the seat cushion stained worn and torn.Please note we have not inspected the frame beneath the upholstery and can't comment on the condition and originality of this area.Please refer to the additional images for a visual reference of condition.ϒ Indicates that this lot may be subject to CITES regulations when exported.
