A Small Longquan Celadon 'Lotus' Vase, Song Dynasty (AD 960-1279)宋 龙泉青釉莲纹长颈瓶The vase well-potted in a small and attractive form with a globular body rising to a columnar neck, finely moulded with central band of four unique flower heads connected by vine scrolls, further decorated with two bands of Buddhist swastikas and key fret patterns above and underneath, all under a glaze of soft olive-green tone, height 5.5 in — 14 cmProvenance:Sotheby's Hong Kong, May 29, 2019, lot 321.Tai Sing Fine Antiques Ltd, Hong Kong, January 25, 2003.来源:香港苏富比2019年5月29日,拍品编号321香港大成古玩有限公司,2003年1月25日Note:This form, along with the similar 'mallet' or 'kinuta' vase, is long admired in particular by Japanese collectors of fine Chinese ceramics, and is unique in demonstrating the extent that the Longquan category can portray in terms of subtlety and elegance.Furthermore, the current vase exemplifies Song dynasty moulding techniques. A moulding block would have worn down after being applied several times over, so the decoration in earlier impressions would appear more rigid whereas later impressions would become more blurred. The current lot would have been pressed with a block in the mid-portion of its lifespan, striking a perfect balance in a subtle design that is just legible enough to make out fine details in the floral decoration.Compare with another small moulded example sold at Christie's Hong Kong, December 2, 2021, lot 2821. For a vase of similar form, see Christie's New York, September 12, 2019, lot 1011.Due to significant interest in this lot, further information may be requested; please contact asianart@waddingtons.ca in order to participate in bidding for this lot.参与竞标此件拍品需要您联系asianart@waddingtons.ca进行特别注册Estimate: $10,000—15,000
