A BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI China, inscription to base, early Ming dynasty, 15th ct. H. 34,5 cm Seated in vajrasana on a lotus-base with his right hand lowered in the bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap, wearing monastic robes including a dhoti secured with a ribbon around the waist and a mantle falling in large pleats down his body, its border incised with scrolling tendrils, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows running into the nose-bridge, pierced elongated earlobes, his spiky hairdo continuing into the ushnisha and topped with a lotus-bud, its reverse incised with some characters.
