A BRONZE JAIN SHRINE West-India, ca. 12th ct. H. 12,7 cm The shrine shows probably Parshvanatha seated in vajrasana on a lotus-base placed on an elaborate throne cast with a few kneeling worshippers, both hands resting in dhyanamudra, wearing dhoti, naked upper body, his face rubbed due extensive worship, snake-canopy above, flanked by a pair of attendants and some tirthakaras seated above the central figure, the reverse engraved with a short inscription. From a German private collection, acquired prior to 2007 Traces of age, partly slightly chipped and traces of greenish corrosion
