Note: Born in 1925 in Liaoning province, China, Wang Nung studied painting with major artists such as Xu Beihong, Li Keran 李可染 (1907-1989) and Wu Zuoren 吴作人 (1908-1997) etc. In 1946, he graduated from the Beijing Fine Arts Institute. Amidst his main subjects are characters from the Chinese traditional theater, but also from traditional operas as well as horses.
