There is a brittle tear in the lower right quadrant which has been unsuccessfully patched from the reverse with a piece of paper. The canvas is attached to a rectangular format wooden stretcher, marks from the edges of the stretcher are visible in the surface of the painting. The paint layers are stable overall, there is a network of age cracks some of which are slightly raised. The varnish has degraded become yellowed, matte and uneven. There is a thick layer of surface dirt present.
