此尊造型源自明弘治年间黄釉描金双兽耳尊,清代沿袭明制。形制庄重沉稳,胎质坚实,器身通施茄皮紫釉,釉色古朴沉稳,釉质光润肥腴，双肩对称饰以一对牺耳,雕工精细,栩栩如生。据《皇朝礼器图示》记载,祭祀时用尊,源于周礼,此类茄皮紫釉牺耳尊当为祭天之用。
