错金银工艺最早始于商周时代的青铜器，主要用在青铜器的各种器皿，车马器具及兵器等使用器物上的装饰图案。战国两汉时期，错金银青铜器大量出现，成为青铜器时代最后的一个亮点，其工艺即先在铸成之器上用墨笔绘成纹样，鉴刻浅槽，然后错金银丝片镶嵌入内，磨搓平滑，使嵌入物与铜器表面自然平滑，达到严丝合缝。此铜尊口沿微撇，束颈弧腹，颈部两侧对称作兽耳，满身施流行与战汉的卷云纹与神兽纹，圈足外撇下承三只展翅欲飞的神鸟将铜尊托起，构成华丽奇异的画面。
