此围屏共六幅扇，互相衔接连成完整的人物故事图、梅兰竹菊松鹤图。人物图画面十分宏大，取材红楼梦，构成一幅当时的风俗画卷，细节刻画入微，布局清晰合理，色彩明快艳丽。而背面则为梅兰竹菊松鹤图，图上有象征长寿、吉祥的仙鹤、松柏以及高贵品质的四君子梅兰竹菊等。围屏是可以折叠的屏风，一般有四、六、八、十二片单扇配置连成。本品整器工艺精美，意寓丰富，多置于正殿（室）主座之后，既彰显出室内布置的富丽精雅，又衬托出主人地位的威仪与尊贵。
