此尊元代的文殊菩萨，头戴枝蔓缠绕的宝冠，发髻高耸，面庞饱满圆润，额间白毫，弯眉杏目，嘴角微翘，面露笑意，着坦右长衫，身前佩挂连珠璎珞，右臂抑地，左手搭于右膝，提脚屈膝，自在端坐于山石之上，座前坐骑瑞狮趴伏，憨态可掬。
文殊菩萨是佛教四大菩萨之一，释迦牟尼佛的左胁侍菩萨，代表聪明智慧。文殊菩萨的名字意译为“妙吉祥”；梵文音译Majur，又译作曼殊室利。是除观世音菩萨外最受尊崇的大菩萨。
