In the 'Memoranda Concerning Rhianva for the use of our children' (by Lady Sarah, wife of Sir John Hay Williams) is a letter from picture dealer Mr Charles Redfern of Warwick, dated 27 October 1852, recording his sale of (presumably) the present work to Sir John Hay Williams for £13: 'The Head of a Dutch lady beautifully painted in the school of Rubens from Warwick Castle.' Redfern supplied four pictures to Sir John in 1852 for a total of £46.Please refer to department for condition report
