Note: The present work is very much in the style of portraits by Sébastien Bourdon, who was court painter for Queen Christina of Sweden and who completed a number of portrait of 17th-century European elite. It was likely conceived after a (lost) original by his hand, and it further bears similarities to portraits by Philippe de Champaigne (1602-1674).Held in a French carved and gilded Regence frame.
