Note: Percy was the son of the painter Edward Williams (1781-1855) and a member of the Williams family of painters (also known as the Barnes School), which included painters George Morland (1763-1804) and James Ward RA (1769-1859). Percy was clearly influenced by the works of his father, with both artists known predominantly as landscape painters, depicting idyllic rural scenes usually including just a few figures.
