A pair of French faience armorial lions, probably 19th century, manganese M marks, each seated on their haunches with a front leg raised to support a scrolling escutcheon with a shield, on rectangular plinth bases sponged in green, 24.8cm and 24.6cm high (2) Overall these lions are in very good condition, with only very small minor faults, detailed below. The left-hand lion has some slight chipping to its right ear (this is very minor) and a slight glaze loss (approximately 5 mm. x 20 mm.) which is relatively minor. In addition, there is a minute chip to the right edge of the escutcheon. The right-hand lion has two small chips to the edge of the escutcheon, and a minute chip to its right ear. These are all very minor.
