A Meissen Hausmalerei tray, the porcelain possibly third quarter 18th century, cancelled blue crossed swords mark, Pressnummer 70, the decoration 19th century and by an independent decorator, finely decorated in the 1740s Meissen style, with figures and merchants by a shore within an elaborate cartouche, the border with gilt panels, scrolls and four elongated quatrefoil landscape and river landscape vignettes, 36cm wide This tray appears bright and fresh and presents very well. A section of the upper part and a section of the lower part have been expertly restored and applied with clear lacquer this makes it impossible to establish the exact nature of the damage below. The restoration is so good that it can barely be seen with the naked eye and only becomes apparent after significant scrutiny for some time. The wear to the gilt border is slight and is very minor.
