Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Salinar-Moche Transition Period, ca. 500 BCE to 200 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel featuring the stern portrait head. The vessel exhibits a round but stable base, a head-shaped body, and a wide, flared spout. The intriguing guise is accentuated with yellow-white pigment on the eyes, temples and chin, and the ovoid eyes stare outwards with a haunting presentation.
