Painted on cloth, this thangka depicts Padmasambhava, widely venerated as the "Second Buddha" in certain parts of Eastern Asian such as Tibet and Nepal. He is shown wearing a lotus hat and robes, one hand bearing a vajra and the other a skull cup with the vase of longevity. His signature khatvanga rests in the crook of his left arm, a danda with three severed heads at the top that are representative of the three bodies of a Buddha.
