水墨纸本立轴尺寸：113×25.5CM 约2.6平尺题识：己丑春三月，萧山立凡。钤印：任预私印说明：文物商店旧藏作者简介：任预(1854-1901)，晚清画家。字立凡，浙江萧山人，任熊之子。长期在上海、苏州一带卖画，画艺得到了任薰、任颐和赵之谦的指教。学习文人画，擅长人物、山水、花鸟。画风秀出时流，别立疏懒落拓的风趣。历来画家对钟馗夸张而诙谐的面容十分感兴趣，任预在《钟馗插花图》中将粗率武猛的钟馗与千姿百媚的鲜花画在一起，形成一种强烈的对比。钟馗插花动作的笨拙和憨态可掬让人忍俊不禁。
