提要：是书红色真皮加同色系彩画纸精装，毛边本，五层竹节背书脊，大理石纹环衬，内收大量精致黑白版画，计有300余幅，其中整版版画80幅左右，均为9世纪法国著名版画家、雕刻家和插图作家古斯塔夫·多雷（Gustave Doré，1832-1883）绘制绘制。
此书由法国古典文学代表作家之一，寓言诗人拉·封丹（Jean de la Fontaine,1621-1695)所作，是世界上最早的诗体寓言集，与古希腊著名寓言诗人伊索的《伊索寓言》及俄国著名作家克雷洛夫所著的《克雷洛夫寓言》并称为世界三大寓言。
