此书开本宽敞，行格疏朗，宋体大字，刊刻精良，开卷赏心悦目，品佳。吴锡麒，浙江钱塘人，乾隆四十年进士，授编修，迁侍读，官至国子监祭酒。晚年主讲扬州安定书院。法式善序其集谓：“先生名重中外。诗文集凡数镌板，贾人藉渔利致富。高丽使至，出金并购《有正味斋集》，厂肆一空”。其名与袁枚相抗，袁以诗名，吴以文重。
