是书原函原装十二册十六卷全，品相如新，为魏氏平生所著文集，因“多有违碍”，为安徽巡抚闵鹗元奏缴，乾隆四十四年奏准禁毁（《清代禁书题解》P324）。故原本传世甚少，至道光二十五年（1845）始有重刻。魏礼（1628-1693），字和公，江西宁都县人，清初著名文学家、诗人，“易堂九子”之一。
