|元代在中国陶瓷史上具有重要的意义，釉里红品种在此一时期创烧成功，但是由于以铜为发色剂，在窑温的要求比较高，烧造出发色稳定、鲜艳的红色极为难得，需要窑工熟练掌握技艺方可成功。此件花插小巧可爱，器身呈垂胆形，下承方几形台座，与之连为一体，外壁于釉下暗刻纹饰，口沿饰折线纹，腹部海棠形开光内饰葡萄纹，形成浮雕效果。满施青釉，局部装饰釉里红斑点，颜色鲜艳，置于案上，可为文房佳器。葡萄因为果实众多，而被认为寓有多子多福的含义，在中国传统文化中是吉祥的纹饰。
