提要：是书是一部研究《文选》，给《文选》作注的专著。版式为两截楼式，其中《文选》刊印于下部，张凤翼纂注小字刊印于上部。全书从头至尾有大量前人朱笔批校圈点。张凤翼（1527-1631），字伯起，号灵虚，长洲（今江苏苏州）人。明嘉靖四十三年（1564）举人。擅作曲。与弟燕翼、献翼并有才名，时人号为“三张”。著有传奇《红拂记》、《祝发记》、《窃符记》、《灌园记》《扊扅记》、《虎符记》，诗文有《处实堂集》，《海内名家工画能事》等。
