1st-3rd century A.D. A silver lunula pendantposed of a ribbed suspension loop, carinated crescentic body tapering at the terminals, filigree scrolled saltire to the centre. A lunar pendant was worn by girls in ancient Rome as an apotropaic amulet for protection against evil forces. The equivalent pendant for boys was the bulla. 3.3 grams, 22 mm (7/8 in.).
