2nd-3rd century A.D. A copper-alloy left foot from a statuette or a votive model, with naturalistic detailing to toes and nails, flat underside. Cf. British Museum's Portable Antiquities Scheme, HESH-2185C5, for a similar copper-alloy votive model. 27 grams, 35 mm (1 3/8 in.). Found on the Thames foreshore, London, UK. Acquired on the UK antiques market between 1974-1985. Albert Ward collection (part 4), Essex, UK. Several similar examples have been recorded by the PAS and all of these have been dated to the Roman period (see records: Wiltshire: WILT-1A26D5, Hertfordshire: BH-F35CB3 and possibly Suffolk: SF6049). They could have been a part of votive statuette or ex-voto linked to the healing of a foot. [No Reserve]
