Shirvan Russia, 1918. Wool on wool. Richly coloured designs in shades of red, green and blue. Triple border with four lined-up diamond-shaped medallions in the field, corner spandrels, and six further medallions on a white ground, at the sides of the diamonds. Dated on the carpet to the Islamic year 1336. Approx. 360 x 167 cm, various weave weights from ca. 9 knots/sq cm to ca. 64 knots/sq cm. Partly restored. Animal residues, probably no longer active.
