**Originally Listed At $350** Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A squat jar of spherical form that is enveloped with layers of wondrous iridescence in silvery and rainbow hues. The vessel exhibits an apple-shaped body with a concave base, a gently rounded shoulder that tapers to form a wide neck, and a slightly everted rim with an in-folded lip. Jars like this would have contained various types of medicinal or cooking ingredients, perfumes, or scarce substances used for trading purposes.
