本品为康窑棒槌瓶，盘口直颈，丰肩长腹，下承圈足，因形似棒槌而得名，其腹部平缓而开阔，适宜绘饰各类人物场景，为康熙朝新创之瓶式。此器腹部作两处开光，每处开光内绘人物故事图。其中一面绘“鸿门宴”故事图，画中骑马者为刘邦，其身后举剑护送者为项伯，持刀追赶者为项庄，整幅画面紧张氛围扑面而来，由是可见绘者极高的艺术功底；另一面或为张良受书故事图。整器人物均形象生动、衣纹线条老辣，讲究笔致墨韵，所绘青花妍丽秀雅，有浓淡深浅之别，笔触皴染得宜，分水技法炉火纯青，当为康窑青花“蓝分五色”之典型。
