L'EPINE ancient early open face pocket watch with decentric time display and 1/4 repeater. France ca. 1850. Gold 18, incl. dust cover, hallmarks from Neuchatel 1820-1866. Dust lid engraved "G. Mandel", "L'Epine", "Cylindre quatre Joyaux", "No. 3080". Movement key set and wound, cylinder escapement, 4 jewels, decentric time display with small second, 1/4 repeater via pushing the crown neck, working. Not tested for power reserve nor accuracy, movement not signed. Dial with roman numerals, leaf decoration, blued Breguet-hands. Visible signs of wear on case and dial, bow with repair spot. Matching key and gold-plated chain enclosed. Diameter ca. 52mm without crown.
