An ormolu mounted bloodstone and gem-set centerpiece dish

probably French, 19th century

Each bronze section is separately formed then joined, hand cut and beveled panels of heliotrope are held in place by gilt bronze decorative rivets set with cabochon stones; apparently unmarked.

H: 2, W: 10, D: 7 1/8 in.(H: 5.08, W: 25.4, D: 18.10 cm.)

Private collection, Pennsylvania.

Oval bloodstone with cracking, abrasions throughout. Bronze with wear commensurate with age and use including abrasions.
