A PAIR OF FINE HUANGHUALI SIDE TABLESLate Qing Dynasty Each rectangular top set within a wide frame above a beaded waist and slender rectangular beaded legs terminating in hoof feet, with carved scrollwork aprons centred with taotie masks to the long sides and ruyi scrolls to the short sides. 82cm (32 1/4in) high x 75cm (29 1/2in) wide x 34cm (13 3/8in) deep. (2). 清晚期 黃花梨邊桌一對 The present tables would have been inspired by an earlier prototype produced during the Ming dynasty, when tables of similar size were depicted in woodblock prints as being used for the display of rocks and miniature potted gardens.
