A VERY RARE CHINESE COROMANDEL LACQUER TWELVE-PANEL SCREENQING DYNASTY, SHUNZHI PERIOD, DATED SHUNZHI YIHAI NIAN, CORRESPONDING TO THE YEAR 1659The front of the screen is carved with an elaborate hunting scene centered with a man riding an elephant with female musicians positioned to his right with an inscription stating that the screen was amission for Mr. Liu Yinji's birthday, with a later inscription on the reverse which laments the political climate of the day, likely an excerpt from Princess Liu's Tang dynasty biography.94 1/2 in.
