(322cm. x 214cm.)The inscription cartouche reads;dar ‘ahd-e abad moddat-e soltan nader shah khallada alla[h molkahu] 1159‘During the eternal reign of Sultan Nadir Shah, may God perpetuate [his kingdom], 1159 (1746-7)’dar kar-khaneh-ye shaykh ‘abd ol-qader dorokhsh‘In the factory of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir Doroshk’It appears to have been common practice for the workshop of Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir to lavish praise on the former Sultan Nader Shah within their carpet inscriptions, as seen on a carpet of similar pictorial design, sold at Sotheby's London, 14 October 1998, lot 130. In addition to the verses above, that carpet makes mention that it was; By the Order of His Excellency, exalted in dignity, Mr Mirza Zaki.
