Afra and Tobia Scarpa. Suite of two sofas and two armchairs. Leather. Coronado Model for B&B Italy. Created in the 60s and 70s. Afra Bianchin (Montebelluna, Italy, 1937 - Trevignano, Italy, 2011) and Tobia Scarpa (Venice, 1935) were a couple that created legendary 20th century design pieces. The Coronado sofa itself, which we have here, the Soriana armchair (1970) for Cassina, the Africa chair, manufactured in the 70s by Maxalto, and the Monk leather chair (1973) for Molteni&C, are clear examples of this. Moreover, their 925 chair is included in the collection at the MoMA in New York. Both designers trained at the Iuav University of Venice and began their career working for Venini on the creation of Murano glass design pieces. In 1960 the pair founded their own studio. Sofa measurements: 76 x 210 x 90 cm each. Armchair measurements: 75 x 96 x 77 cm.
