此箱主体以黄杨木为材制作，结构严谨考究。整作长方体形，线条舒展平整，方中寓圆。打开前箱门，内设三层五屉，箱门、内部屉面均以纹理华美的红木镶嵌。
此种带有多具抽屉的箱，也可见有两扇对门开式，古时作为药箱使用。而此种以珍贵材质制成的，颇具艺术价值，可置于案头存放印玺文房小件。
