PLEASE NOTE THE ESTIMATE FOR THIS LOT SHOULD READ £8,000-10,000 A CHINESE LACQUERED WOOD FOUR-FOLD SCREEN PROBABLY MING DYNASTY Decorated with a continuous scene with birds, including pheasants, egrets and mandarin ducks, amidst craggy rocks and flower branches, with poetic inscriptions and four seals, one reading Ding Yan and two others Gao Qizhuo; all above four smaller panels, each with a mythical beast, 176cm x 233cm. Provenance: from the collection of Dr Oliver Impey (1936-2005), and Dr Jane (Mellanby) Impey (1938-2021), of Cumnor Place, Oxford. The inscription is a poem in four verses which reads: Pomegranates begin to ripe Every plant hurries to beautify itself All animals gather in groups
