KAEMMER & REINHARDT "Kaiserbaby", from 1909, Porcelain full head, marked "36 K & R 100", character face with blue painted eyes, finely dotted and modeled hair and an open-closed mouth, 5-part baby body made of wood mass composition with bent limbs, partly rubbed, right leg with a crack, flaking partly on the body and the left foot. L 35.5 cm.The so-called "Kaiserbaby" became famous for being accused of insulting his majesty: Contemporaries loyal to the Kaiser recognized the doll's face as an unauthorized portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II, who was much prettier as a child. The company then claimed that the modeler's surname was Kaiser . The model for the head is certain, a template was the sculpture of a laughing child by Arthur Lewin-Funcke.
