A CHINESE KINGFISHER FEATHER MOUNTED HEADDRESS, LATE QING/EARLY REPUBLIC. The arched pierced scroll shaped gilt-metal headband applied with a row of wire work and wire sprung phoenix, dragons, fish, scrolls and flowers centred by a figure seated on a cloud, the upper tier with eight further figures resting on clouds alternating with Shou characters, applied with amber and red coloured beads, with leaf-shaped terminals mounted with a brown stone and carnelian cabochons and beads, approx. 28cm high x 29.5cm max.Overall this is of good decorative appearance. The upper central foliate ornament with central carnelain cabochon is detached but present. One of the dragons is also loose but present. Some small soldered repairs are visible to the wirework, minor repairs where gilt metal has been reinforced with glue are visible at reverse, minor discolouration to gilt-metal. Minor areas of damage and wear to kingfisher feathers and some typical misshaping to wirework. Some rubbing to the black painted heads.
