A CHINESE PURPLE GROUND SILK ROBE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. The sleeves and trim embroidered with panels of pink chrysanthemum and other flowers and fruit on a black or cream ground, with pink and blue interlocking key-pattern to hem, blue lining, with gilt-metal toggles, approx. 106cm longSome bleached staining to one sleeve and to lower edge of robe (effecting purple silk), tear to black silk at back of neck and some further small tears and deterioration to black silk, cream silk sleeves with some staining, some repairs to silk fasteners/toggles, small areas of repairs to embroidered trims, some of the embroidered panels are slightly loose, some typical wear through age and use, probably relined.
