A CHINESE LACQUER PENWORK WOODEN TEA CHEST, MID-19TH CENTURY. Of rectangular form, in red lacquer with penwork decorated of butterflies and flower sprays within a leafy scroll border, with brass clasp and swing carry handles at side, H43cm x W48.5cm x 35.5cmOf good overall decorative appearance. With old repaired split to top, reinforced with wooden repair to interior, small associated areas of in-filling, further lesser split to top, slight losses to edge of upper rim of top, small wooden repair to edge of cover at front and small loss above clasp at front, lock no long present, short split to back, minor losses and scuffing to edges through age and use.
