A LARGE CHINESE GREEN GLAZED POTTERY HU JAR WITH TAOTIE MASK HANDLES. Made from a reddish pottery, coated in a finely-crackled green glaze with a silvery iridescence to the surface in places. On opposing sides at the waist are elaborate moulded taotie mask handles. 39cm tall. Han Dynasty or later. For information: similar examples are shown in the Southeast Asian Ceramic Society book 'Spirit of Han'.Good general condition with minor surface wear, minor chips to rim and base edges, no sign of restoration or repair.
