W:14.5cmA Rare Cloisonne shallow Bowl, first half 16th centurythe low rounded sides decorated with scrolling lotus on a turquoise ground, beneath a white ground lingzhi band at the rim, the centre domed , and marked within the base with the single red character 'jiao', and decorated on the interior with a white and red florette , the sides with lotus sprays on a turquoise field between bands of white scroll and wavea comparable bowl, originally belonging to T.B.Kitson, is illustrated in Helmut Brinker and Albert Lutz, Chinese Cloisonne, the Pierre Uldry Collection, London 1989 .The bowl is of identical form, with Buddhist emblem decoration, and with the underside of the domed centre marked 'le', meaning 'joy'. The authors date it to the 'first half of the 16th century'.
